So, what are the criteria for product names in granting halal certificates by MUI? Let’s see the full explanation in the following article!

What is Halal Certificate?

Halal certificate is an official document issued by MUI to state if a product has fulfilled Islamic law, both from raw materials and production process. With this certificate, a product can be declared safe for consumption and free from haram ingredients. The standard that refers to the MUI fatwa does not only exist in Indonesia, but also in various countries for both domestic and export consumers, and does not only apply in Islamic majority countries. Therefore, with a halal certificate, producers can ensure that their products are acceptable to Muslim consumers and meet the requirements of the growing halal market.

Names of Products that Cannot Get Halal Certificates

Creating a unique product name is important so that it will easily stick in consumers’ minds. However, creative ideas still have their limits. If you are still determined to use a unique product name but hinder the processing of halal certificates, it will cause losses. The criteria for product names that will not get a halal certificate according to LPPOM MUI Decree No. SK46/Dir/LPPOM MUI: SK46/Dir/LPPOM MUI/XII/14 and MUI Fatwa No. 11/2009), namely:

  3. Product names that contain satanic names and the like.
