The drama of the company that houses Indomie and Mie Gaga began with a video shared by a TikTok account named @bigaplhaid on August 20, 2023. In the 1 minute 44 second video, it is known that Indomie was originally founded in 1972 by Djajadi Djaja, who is now the boss of Gaga Noodles. after Indomie’s popularity rose, Djaja was invited by Sudono Salim as the boss of Sarimi to work together. They then established Indofood with Djaja as the main shareholder with a 57.5 percent stake. Meanwhile, Sudono Salim controlled 42.5 percent. However, when Djaja experienced a financial crisis in 1993, he was ousted from the ranks of Indofood’s shareholders. Sudono Salim took control of Indomie and incorporated it into PT Indofood Sukses Makmur in 1994. In 1998, Djaja actually spoke out against Sudono Salim and won custody of Indomie. He admitted that he was forced to sell the company and its 11 brands at a very low price, which in 1986 was Rp30,000. Djaja also filed a lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court demanding Rp620 billion in compensation from Indofood. Unfortunately, the effort was fruitless because the lawsuit was rejected by the court. After the tough process, Djaja finally decided to establish PT Jakarana Tama and from there the Mie Gaga brand began to be recognized. Although it has not been able to beat Indomie, Mie Gaga has made it into the top five best-selling instant noodle products in Indonesia. This drama also succeeded in making netizens touched until the viral action of switching from Indomie to Mie Gaga. Due to the viral Indomie VS Mie Gaga video, finally Mie Gaga’s boss, Djajadi Djaja spoke up through a Press Release on the @gaga100extrapedas Instagram account. “PT Jakarana Tama and Mr. Djajadi Djaja have never made, ordered to make, spread or become a source or provide any response in connection with the news that has been made, and we are not responsible for the content or reporting in the uploaded content,” said the contents of the Press Release uploaded on Friday, August 25, 2023. Djaja appealed to the parties who made the content about him to immediately delete it because this was done without the permission of the Gaga Noodle producer post. In addition, PT Jakarana Tama and Djajadi Djaja have prepared legal efforts to sue the content creators to protect any legal interests. Meanwhile, until now, there has been no response from Indomie or PT Indofood.
