What is KBLI?
The Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (Klasifikasi Baku Lapangan Usaha Indonesia or KBLI) is a reference used to classify economic activities into several business fields that are distinguished by the type of economic activity that produces goods or services. KBLI is compiled by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which consists of four to five code numbers that determine the business field of a company. The company deed of establishment registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights must include a code that is in accordance with the KBLI. In line with the development of increasingly diverse economic activities, KBLI improvements are always made by BPS. Until now, the KBLI used is the 2020 KBLI which is a form of refinement of the 2017 KBLI. The following are examples of KBLI for several business sectors.
Example of KBLI Selection
If you want to open a business in the provision of drinks, then the KBLI code used is 5630 which covers the activity of preparing and serving drinks for consumption on the spot to order, including bars or pubs (56301), taverns (56304), cocktail shops, discotheques that are mainly beverage services (56302), coffee shops (56304), cafes (56303), mobile beverage sellers and the like. Meanwhile, the food supply business has a KBLI code of 5610 which includes activities to provide food services to buyers, whether the buyer is provided with food while sitting or the buyer takes it himself from the food place that has been available. This food provision can be in the form of restaurants (56101), houses/stalls (56102), food stalls (56103), mobile food provision (56104), restaurants and other mobile food provision (56109). Unlike the apparel industry (convection) which has KBLI code 1411. If the apparel is made from textiles/fabric, KBLI code 14111 is used, this group includes the business of making apparel by cutting and sewing so that it is ready to wear, such as shirts, pants, kebaya, blouses, skirts, baby clothes, dance clothes and sportswear. Likewise, KBLI code 14112 includes the business of making apparel (convection) from leather or imitation leather, such as jackets, coats, vests, pants and skirts, as well as making leather clothing accessories. The domestic industry is no less competitive than other industries, plus there are more and more beauty influencers on social media that we can meet. If you want to make a business in this field, you can use KBLI code 20232. This code covers the business of making cosmetics for humans, such as makeup, fragrances or perfumes, hair care products, nail care products, skin care products, products for body hygiene, products for shaving. Also included are toothpastes and products to maintain oral hygiene, such as cosmetic teeth whitening products. If you want to open an agency company, then you can use KBLI code 7020 (management consulting activities), which is the provision of advice, guidance and business operations assistance and other organizational and management issues, such as strategic and organizational planning, decisions related to finance, marketing objectives and policies, human resource planning, practices and policies, production scheduling and control planning. Then, use KBLI code 7490, which is other professional, scientific and technical activities, and KBLI code 7310 (advertising). Or do you want to do retail trade in laboratory equipment, pharmaceutical equipment, and medical devices for humans? Then the KBLI code 47725 is used. This trade includes a variety of glass laboratory equipment (test tubes, measuring tubes, microscope slides, cuvettes, serum/infusion bottles), porcelain laboratory equipment, medical professional tools and supplies. Even if you want to carry out agricultural business activities for vegetables, fruits and various tubers, the KBLI code is also available for this field, namely 0113.
Function of KBLI
The KBLI code serves as a mapping of business licenses that will be given to business actors. If the chosen KBLI is not correct, it is possible that business actors will not get a Business Identification Number (NIB) and business license. If they still get it, the NIB obtained does not accurately describe the business entity.
