The G20 Summit was held on November 15-16, 2022 in Nusa Dua, Bali. Indonesia utilized this moment as a promotional event for MSME products by displaying a variety of the best work of local business actors. The government through the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs bridges MSME players to be able to show off in the international arena. One of them is by finalizing the capacity of actors and products that will be used as official merchandise of the G20 Summit. Quoted from the official statement of the G20 Communication and Media Team, from 1,024 participants who are MSME units, 22 of them were declared ready as suppliers of official G20 Summit merchandise. The selected MSMEs are engaged in various sectors, ranging from handicrafts, fashion, food, cosmetics, as well as herbal and health products. The MSME players come from various regions throughout Indonesia. From Aceh, the selected MSME unit is Yagi Natural Indonesia. Then Lewi’s Organics from Banten. Then, from West Java there are Fragrance Kreasi Alami, Faber Instrument Indonesia, Pala Nusantara, and Imagenation. Meanwhile, from Central Java there are Rumah Atsiri, Suryoart, and Funiwell Calistaprima. In addition, the selected MSME units from East Java are Dehealth Supplies, Wonnow, Handcrafted, and Hucravindo. There are also MSME representatives from the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), namely Kallestory Eyewear and Borobudur Silver. From Bali, the selected MSMEs are Maharani Craft, Hape, Adem Juice and Smoothies, Samsara, and Lima Menara Sejahtera. Furthermore, there are Pandora Mutiara, Batika, and Tri Utami Jaya from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), and Cocomama Komodo from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The opportunity given to Indonesian MSMEs is one illustration of how the government through the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs is very serious about maximizing the potential of MSMEs so that they can participate in the international event of the G20 Summit. This activity is a golden opportunity to introduce and promote local MSME products to all G20 delegates from abroad. Especially with the Covid-19 pandemic which turned out to be a momentum to increase the growth of MSMEs, of course, followed by the G20 Presidency. But besides that, it is hoped that the participation of Indonesian MSMEs in international events like this is not a one-time purchase or temporary. Rather, it is one of the stepping stones for MSMEs to be better prepared to respond to greater export cooperation opportunities. Of course, the government also needs to prepare coaching, mentoring, and business matching that can be used by Indonesian MSME players to jump higher. In order to promote Indonesian MSME products to penetrate international exports, the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs itself has carried out four digital transformations, namely the details:
- Informal to formal transformation,
- Utilization of innovation and digitalization,
- Supply chain transformation and entrepreneurship, and
- Transformation of modern cooperatives.
This supply chain is closely related to international exports, including the G20. Therefore, it is hoped that all levels, including local government support, will continue to encourage superior MSME products to increase their capacity. Because this localization is the strength of Indonesian MSMEs to go international. In addition, the government through the Ministry of Trade has also socialized the mechanisms or steps that must be taken by MSME players in order to penetrate the international market, namely administrative preparation, legality as an exporter, preparation of export products, and operational preparation.
KH Contact
Now KH friends as MSME players who want their products to penetrate the international market, of course, must have a business location or office that is permanent or has a long-term contract, along with equipment and other supporting equipment. In addition, MSME actors must also have a communication network and operational personnel who can communicate in English, and prepare a company profile as information and promotional material for potential customers. MSME players must also first know the provisions of international requirements or the provisions of foreign market demand, such as quantity, quality, packaging, labeling, funding, and delivery time. In terms of legality, MSME players who want to export their products abroad must prepare the required documents, including proof of brand registration at the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGII) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Trade Business License (SIUP), Business Identification Number (NIB), and company Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP). After the above requirements are met, MSME players do not forget to prepare other documents such as sales contracts, trade invoices, Letters of Credit, Notification of Exported Goods (PEB), Bill of Loading, insurance policies, packing lists, certificates of origin, quality statements, and export wessels for exporters. Therefore, for business actors who want their MSME business to go international through exports, don’t forget to complete every legality document described above!
