Hometown Cha Cha Cha is an increasingly popular drama series these days. The drama, which takes place in a rural setting on the coast, tells the story of Yoon Hye Jin, a dentist who moved from Seoul and set up a dental clinic in Gongjin Village. In this village, Yoon Hye Jin meets Hong Doo Shik also known as Hong Bajang, an unemployed person who is always busy helping Gongjin residents but has many licenses and skills to do various jobs. With Hong Bajang’s help, Hye Jin manages to establish the first dental clinic in Gongjin. To set up the clinic, Hye Jin had to go through various stages. Want to know what are the stages in question? Let’s take a look at the following discussion from Contract Law!

Finding a Strategic Business Location

The first thing Hye Jin did when she decided to open a clinic in Gongjin was to find a strategic business location. In the drama, Hye Jin searched for a business location with Hong Bajang who was also working part-time as a real estate agent at the time. When starting a business, the location of the business is indeed a determining factor for the success and sustainability of the business. The more strategic the business location, the easier it is for consumers to reach the products or services offered. The location of Hye Jin Dental Clinic itself is in a strategic place. Not only is it located on the main road of the village, but it is also close to the village hall, restaurants, markets, and villagers’ residences, so there are many activities happening around Hye Jin’s business location.

Lease Agreement

After choosing a business location, Hye Jin then signed a lease contract with Yeo Hwa-jung, the owner of the building where Hye Jin’s dental clinic is located. The contract is signed and 2 copies are made so that the landlord and tenant each have a copy of the contract. In the drama, Hong Bajang had mentioned that the contract contains the rights and obligations of the landlord and tenant. The parties are also required to abide by the terms of the contract. When compared, the rules regarding contracts in South Korea are almost the same as in Indonesia. Furthermore, the rules regarding contracts in Indonesia state that as long as the clauses in it are not contrary to the law and the agreement is carried out in good faith, the contract is valid and binds the parties in it to fulfill the obligations as stipulated in the contract.

Clinic Establishment Permit

Although not shown in the drama, Hye Jin must also apply for a license when setting up a clinic. In Indonesia, a license to set up a clinic can be obtained by making an application to the PTSP of the area where the clinic is located. Each region has different requirements regarding clinic licenses. But regardless of location, dental clinics are required to have environmental documents in the form of SPPL.

Recruiting Employees

The next step Hye Jin took when she opened the clinic in Gongjin was to recruit employees. Hye Jin had made a job advertisement. But Mi-Seon, Hye Jin’s best friend from Seoul who also works as a nurse, came and applied for the job. In the drama scene, Mi-Seon asked for a 10% salary increase and provided accommodation. Hye Jin agreed and recruited Mi-Seon as an employee for her clinic. From a legal perspective, the employment relationship between Hye Jin and Mi-Seon should be outlined in an employment agreement. Although oral agreements are still valid, it will be easier to prove if the agreement is made in writing. Employment agreements are also made so that the rights and obligations arising between employers and employees are clear.

Promotion by Utilizing Moments

The last thing that Hye Jin did not miss when starting a business in Gongjin was promotion. At the beginning of episode 2 of Hometown Cha Cha Cha, Yeo Hwa-jung came to Hye Jin’s house and invited Hye Jin to come to a party for senior citizens. Yeo Hwa-jung also suggests Hye Jin come to the party to introduce herself and promote the opening of her dental clinic. Hye Jin decides to come and mingle with Gongjin residents to promote her clinic. Promotion is indeed one of the ways that can be done to inform and invite people to become consumers of their business. With good promotion, sales will increase as well as the image of the business being run.
